Accountant – Sofia

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Accountant to join a leading international organisation’s finance team in Sofia. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month‑end and year‑end processes, and ensuring compliance with Bulgarian statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and process invoices, payments and expense records in line with company policies.
• Maintain up‑to‑date bookkeeping and financial data.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Collaborate with international teams for consolidated reporting and group accounting.
• Ensure compliance with Bulgarian statutory requirements and internal controls.
• Support VAT, tax and other statutory filings.
• Contribute to internal and external audit activities as needed.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Relevant experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably in an international environment.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal English; Bulgarian is a plus.
• Well‑organized with the ability to prioritize deadlines.
• Commitment to accuracy, integrity and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as SAP or Oracle.
