Senior Tax Accountant

About the role

The Record to Report (R2R) team at SumUp needs a Senior Tax Accountant to drive accurate tax accounting across our European entities. You will apply technical tax frameworks daily, ensuring precise calculations, postings, and reconciliations that feed into our financial statements and management accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Produce entity‑level tax provisions (current and deferred) and effective tax rate (ETR) calculations, posting entries in SAP and maintaining deferred tax roll‑forward schedules.
• Perform monthly reconciliation of tax‑related balance‑sheet and P&L accounts, executing controls, variance analysis, and audit trails.
• Calculate advance corporate income tax instalments across jurisdictions and track payments versus due dates.
• Book and maintain uncertain tax position (UTP) provisions in line with IAS 12 and IFRIC 23, keeping schedules audit‑ready.
• Execute Pillar 2 / GloBE income and adjusted covered tax calculations, ensuring timely integration into the controlling module.
• Contribute to periodic tax reporting packages and support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close cycles.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience producing tax provisions under IAS 12, including deferred tax accounting and ETR calculation, in a multinational environment.
• Experience supporting month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes with tax journals, reconciliations, and audit‑ready documentation.
• Solid knowledge of uncertain tax position measurement under IFRIC 23.
• Deep understanding of tax balance‑sheet accounts, journal entries, and reconciliation controls.
• Proven ability to prepare documentation and respond to auditor queries on tax provisions and reconciliations.
• Confident SAP user with experience in financial modules.
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and complex reconciliation workbooks.
• Fluent written and spoken English and comfortable working in a matrixed finance environment.
