Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to join our global engineering team. You will develop high‑voltage contactor products, ensuring they meet demanding customer and system requirements from concept through production launch.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise electro‑mechanical components focusing on switching performance, thermal behaviour and reliability.
• Lead full product development cycles, including concept, validation, prototype support, testing and release to production.
• Create accurate drawings, specifications and documentation, and manage timely release through internal systems.
• Support cross‑functional integration, manufacturing readiness and production validation activities.
• Maintain product documentation and interact directly with customers to gather specifications, schedule expectations and budget constraints.
• Conduct corrosion research, welding characterisation and apply mechanical engineering principles, materials science, fluid, thermal and heat‑transfer analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Strong understanding of high‑voltage DC switching systems (400‑1000 V+), contact physics, arcing phenomena and electro‑mechanical actuator dynamics.
• Proven experience with contact materials (Cu, CuTe, AgSnO₂, AgNi), contact force design, tolerancing and life optimisation.
• Knowledge of HV insulation, creepage, clearance, dielectric requirements and relevant safety standards (IEC, UL, LV123/LV148).
• Familiarity with arc‑mitigation techniques, pre‑charge systems and HV safety standards for automotive/industrial applications.
