Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Sofia team. The role combines mechanical design, cost estimation, and process optimisation while working closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality access‑solution products.

Key responsibilities

• Create precise 2D/3D CAD models, detailed drawings and technical documentation ready for serial production.
• Develop new mechanical components and improve existing ones through structured Life Cycle Management.
• Participate in Scrum teams, reviewing technical requirements and delivering engineering outcomes.
• Validate designs against specifications, regulatory standards and error‑free criteria.
• Produce accurate cost estimates and perform cost‑benefit analyses for design decisions.
• Analyse current operations and propose cost‑justified efficiency improvements.
• Collaborate with Testing, Production Engineering, Purchasing, Product Management and other stakeholders from concept to production.
• Lead technical reviews, FMEAs and Value Engineering activities.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, product design or development within manufacturing or industrial settings.
• University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong analytical mindset, quality orientation and systematic problem‑solving approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in an international, matrix‑style organisation.
• Business fluency in English; German is a plus.

Required skills

• Expert‑level 2D/3D CAD modelling and production‑ready drawing creation.
• Cost estimation and cost‑control expertise.
• Experience with FMEA, Value Engineering and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and Life Cycle Management processes.
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
