Senior EU Projects Audit Associate

About the role

PwC is seeking a Senior Audit Associate to join its Sofia office and support EU‑funded projects worldwide. You will work on assurance assignments for the European Commission, performing audit procedures on a variety of grant‑related contracts and constructions.

Key responsibilities

• Execute agreed‑upon audit procedures, focusing on expenditure verification of EU‑funded projects.
• Apply protocols from PRAG, Twinning Manuals, and other EU grant guidelines.
• Document audit work in a dedicated audit platform.
• Collaborate with audit teams and liaise with the European Commission, its delegations, and reporting entities.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while adapting to an international work environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of audit experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• Membership in a national or international accounting/auditing body (e.g., ACCA) is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel internationally within Europe and a valid passport.
• Fluent English; additional European language (French, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese) highly beneficial.
• Proactive, able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
