Hardware Design Engineer – Automotive Electrical Systems

About the role

Visteon is seeking a senior‑level Hardware Design Engineer to lead the design, development and integration of advanced electrical systems for automotive applications. The role combines deep electrical engineering expertise with cross‑functional collaboration to deliver safe, reliable, and innovative vehicle architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end design and development of complex automotive electrical subsystems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and Visteon specifications.
• Define architectural decisions for power distribution, signal processing and embedded control units, and drive technical strategies across projects.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical and systems engineering teams to integrate electrical components into vehicle platforms.
• Perform detailed electrical analysis, simulation and validation to optimise performance, safety and reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers, manage technical risks and troubleshoot issues throughout the product lifecycle.
• Produce comprehensive documentation, including schematics, design specifications, test plans and compliance reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 8‑10+ years of experience in automotive electrical system design, preferably with Tier‑1 suppliers or OEMs.
• Proven track record of leading complex electrical engineering projects and delivering results on schedule.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety, EMC/EMI requirements and automotive regulatory standards.
• Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work in cross‑functional, global teams.
