Laboratory Study Manager (Remote)

About the role

ICON plc is seeking a Laboratory Study Manager to lead central laboratory activities across global clinical studies. This remote position serves as the primary liaison between study teams, laboratory partners, and cross‑functional stakeholders, ensuring smooth management of human biological samples throughout the trial lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact between clinical study teams and central laboratory partners.
• Coordinate the end‑to‑end management of human biological samples from start‑up to close‑out.
• Develop and maintain Human Biological Sample Management (HBSM) Plans and Sample Risk Assessments.
• Establish and monitor sample flow, testing activities, and laboratory data delivery processes.
• Oversee sample chain of custody, laboratory operations, and issue resolution across global networks.
• Manage laboratory budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting.
• Collaborate with Clinical Operations, Data Management, Laboratory Vendors, Human Genetics, and other stakeholders.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise and drive continuous improvement of laboratory and sample management processes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in clinical laboratory operations and trial conduct.
• Strong understanding of central laboratory operations within clinical research.
• Excellent knowledge of ICH‑GCP and GCLP requirements.
• Proven project‑management capability in complex, cross‑functional environments.
• Fluent written and verbal communication in English.
