Operational Buyer / Material Planner

About the role

As an Operational Buyer / Material Planner you will ensure reliable production by aligning demand and supply, optimizing inventory and coordinating with suppliers. You will work on‑site, collaborating across functions to drive operational excellence and support ABB’s performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute MRP, release purchase orders and expedite critical materials to support production schedules while optimizing inventory.
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as on‑time delivery, inventory turnover, days on hand and supplier performance.
• Manage supplier relationships, resolve urgent supply issues and follow up on invoices and payments.
• Collaborate with production, purchasing, quality, engineering and warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations and continuity of delivery.
• Drive operational excellence through daily material reviews, risk mitigation and working‑capital improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics or Procurement.
• At least 2 years of experience in material planning or a related purchasing role.
• Strong knowledge of material planning modules within ERP systems.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Motivation for continuous learning and improvement.

Required skills

• Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
• ERP material‑planning modules (e.g., SAP MM, Oracle, etc.).
• KPI monitoring and analysis.
• Supplier relationship management.
