Chief Accountant

About the role

As Chief Accountant you will lead the local accounting function for Schneider Electric’s commercial operations in Sofia and its factory in Plovdiv. You will work closely with global finance structures, ensuring compliance, accurate reporting, and continuous improvement of financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the Local Accounting Team.
• Collaborate with Accounting Competency Centers, monitor performance and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with group accounting and tax procedures and internal control standards.
• Prepare timely and accurate Group reporting and present analyses during regular review meetings.
• Produce statutory financial statements and lead the external audit process.
• Prepare and file tax returns (CIT, VAT, WHT) and support transfer pricing documentation.
• Identify accounting and tax risks and support business decisions.
• Participate in Group projects and local initiatives driven by legal requirements.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Extensive experience in accounting and tax compliance, preferably as a Chief Accountant.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills.
• Fluent in English and Bulgarian.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
