About the role
The Mechanics Lead will oversee mechanical maintenance, reliability and engineering activities across Air Liquide production plants in Bulgaria and Romania. Reporting to the PPBOS Maintenance Manager, the role aims to maximize equipment availability, safety and efficiency while controlling maintenance costs.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and optimise predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for rotating equipment, compressors, pumps, cryogenic units and piping systems using Maximo.
- Lead technical troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for complex mechanical breakdowns.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with EHS standards, pressure equipment directives and environmental regulations.
- Supervise third‑party contractors and vendors during routine work and major turnarounds, providing technical guidance and quality control.
- Manage mechanical spare‑parts inventory and establish critical spares strategies.
- Analyse CMMS data to monitor reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR) and drive continuous improvement.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3‑5 years of progressive experience in mechanical maintenance or reliability in heavy‑industrial process environments.
- Hands‑on experience with rotating machinery (compressors, blowers, pumps) and static equipment (pressure vessels, piping networks).
- Proven ability to supervise contractors during plant turnarounds or revamps.
- Business fluency in English and native or fluent Bulgarian.
Required skills
- Mechanical systems knowledge: rotating equipment, alignment, mechanical seals, vibration analysis.
- Pressure equipment regulations and safety compliance.
- CMMS platforms, specifically Maximo, for work‑order planning and asset tracking.
- Root‑cause analysis (RCA) and reliability engineering techniques.
