Senior AI Engineer (Automation)

About the role

Graphwise (part of Ontotext) is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design and implement GraphRAG and automation pipelines. You will work at the intersection of knowledge graphs, large language models and data orchestration, building scalable, production‑grade backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement GraphRAG pipelines that combine knowledge graphs with LLM‑based retrieval.
• Build scalable data ingestion, transformation and enrichment pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Integrate LLMs and embedding models into production systems such as RAG, semantic search and agent workflows.
• Orchestrate complex data and AI pipelines using workflow tools like n8n.
• Develop clean, production‑grade APIs for AI and data services.
• Optimize performance, reliability, observability and scalability of retrieval, indexing and transformation pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, data, backend and customer‑facing teams to design end‑to‑end AI features.
• Debug complex issues across distributed data and AI pipelines.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in backend or data engineering using Java, Python or similar strongly typed languages.
• Proven experience designing and building LLM pipelines, ETL workflows and backend data processing systems.
• Strong understanding of APIs and backend system design.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluent English communication skills.
