Technical Superintendent – Bulk Carrier Fleet

About the role

The Technical Superintendent will oversee the technical management and operational efficiency of a fleet of bulk carriers from our office in Varna. You will ensure vessels meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and regulatory compliance while coordinating maintenance, repairs, dry‑docking and inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee technical operations of assigned bulk carriers, ensuring timely maintenance, repairs and dry‑docking.
• Monitor vessel performance and implement optimisation measures.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain compliance with ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, classification societies and flag‑state regulations.
• Prepare and manage vessel maintenance budgets, control operational costs and negotiate with suppliers.
• Plan and supervise dry‑docking, major repairs and refits, liaising with shipyards and contractors.
• Collaborate with vessel crews, chartering, operations and procurement teams to ensure smooth technical operations.

Required profile

• Marine Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience as a Technical Superintendent, preferably with bulk carriers.
• Sailing experience as a Chief Engineer is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel for vessel inspections and dry‑docking.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of ship systems.
• Maintenance planning and repair processes.
• Dry‑docking coordination.
• Familiarity with international maritime regulations (ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, Class, Flag State).
• Budget management and cost control.
