Senior Java Backend Engineer

About the role

Graphwise is seeking a Senior Java Backend Engineer to help build and enhance its GraphDB product suite. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating with a small squad of engineers to design, implement and optimise high‑performance knowledge‑graph services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and test new features for the GraphDB backend.
• Conduct peer code reviews and ensure high‑quality code delivery.
• Optimise database performance through concurrency improvements and novel algorithm research.
• Debug complex issues under concurrent transactional load and reproduce them reliably.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience with Java or another strongly typed language (e.g., Rust, C++, Go).
• Strong analytical skills with expertise in multithreading and algorithmic analysis.
• Deep knowledge of database internals, data structures and graph representations.
• Experience building and maintaining distributed systems.
• Degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
