System Architect (Go/Rust)

About the role

Workato is looking for a System Architect with deep expertise in Rust and Go to lead the design and implementation of core language and runtime components that power its enterprise integration platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build core language and runtime features for the Expression Language, Data Mapper, and Decision Engine.
• Own and extend the Rust core, embedding it as a native component inside Ruby and Go services via FFI bindings.
• Expand the Decision Engine from static rules to support formula evaluation.
• Contribute to WebAssembly sandboxing to ensure safe isolation of each component.
• Collaborate closely with Product and AI teams to define component APIs and requirements.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience with Rust at a systems or backend level.
• Production‑grade proficiency in Go.
• Proven track record embedding Rust as a library or native extension inside another language runtime (e.g., Rust‑in‑Ruby or Rust‑in‑Go).
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑moving, remote‑friendly environment.
