Senior Roaming Operations Engineer

About the role

Tieto Tech Consulting is seeking a Senior Roaming Operations Engineer to join a Telecom Team supporting BICS, a global communications network handling about 50% of worldwide roaming traffic. You will provide second‑line support for a range of roaming services and ensure high‑quality, reliable international communications.

Key responsibilities

• Provide second‑line support for Instant Roaming, Open‑Connectivity Roaming, SMS Translator, Steering of Roaming, Managed PGW and related services.
• Monitor network and service availability, perform proactive and reactive maintenance, and manage incidents.
• Participate in new service implementations and network rollout projects together with engineering teams.
• Collaborate with product management, presales, and other support teams to gather logs, validate routing, and maintain service quality.
• Work with vendors, monitor performance, and ensure proper service delivery.
• Support global customers with roaming issues and cooperate with mobile operators and Travel SIM companies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, IT or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in telecommunications, especially signaling or roaming.
• Strong understanding of network architecture, SS7/SIGTRAN, LTE, GSM call flows, Mobile Packet Core and roaming scenarios.
• Ability to work autonomously and in multicultural, fast‑paced environments.
• Upper‑intermediate (B2) English proficiency or higher.

• Linux operating system and Docker.
• Splunk and Python.
• Cellusys Steering of Roaming platform (advantage).
