Data and Index Analyst

About the role

You will join Fastmarkets' Index team, reporting to the Index Manager, to maintain and develop index pricing data models, optimise efficiency and ensure precision in normalising market data. The role also involves creating actionable insights and contributing to projects that improve key performance indicators across Editorial and other teams.

Key responsibilities

• Periodically update normalization models with fresh data on tight schedules to maintain pricing precision.
• Optimise and automate models to increase accuracy and uncover unaccounted patterns.
• Understand commodity markets and pricing from economic and technical perspectives and explain concepts internally and externally.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of data analytics processes and tools.
• Analyse large and complex data sets to uncover hidden insights and provide recommendations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify business problems and develop data‑driven solutions.
• Present actionable, data‑driven insights to senior leadership.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL and Excel, working with large data sets.
• Experience building data pipelines and using Snowflake.
• Ability to apply regression analysis and statistical forecasting.
• Strong communication skills to present data‑driven insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
