Reporting and Tax Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Reporting and Tax Specialist to join our Finance team and take ownership of the accuracy and timeliness of our monthly financial reconciliations and management reporting, while also serving as the team’s go‑to for ad‑hoc tax research and compliance questions under Bulgarian tax legislation. The role is ideal for candidates with an accounting, tax or audit background who enjoy the discipline of a monthly close cycle combined with varied tax and technical research.

Key responsibilities

• Perform monthly financial reconciliations (bank, balance‑sheet, intercompany), identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare monthly management reports and supporting schedules for finance leadership review.
• Support month‑end and quarter‑end close processes, ensuring reporting deadlines are met.
• Maintain clear documentation and strengthen internal controls around reconciliation and reporting.
• Conduct ad‑hoc tax research on Bulgarian corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax and related regulations, summarising findings and recommendations.
• Monitor changes in Bulgarian tax legislation and assess their impact on reporting and compliance obligations.
• Assist in the preparation and review of statutory tax filings in coordination with external accountants.
• Ensure financial reporting aligns with IFRS requirements and liaise with auditors, tax authorities and external accountants as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in accounting, auditing, tax or financial reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Economics or a related field.
• Working knowledge of IFRS and a solid understanding of Bulgarian tax legislation (corporate income tax, VAT and related compliance).

Required skills

• Strong Excel skills.
• Experience working with accounting/ERP systems.
