Data Engineer – Databricks (Bulgaria)

About the role

Deloitte is seeking a Databricks Data Engineer to design, build, and optimise scalable data solutions that enable critical business insights and future AI initiatives. You will work with Data Architects, Data Scientists and senior engineers to deliver enterprise‑grade Lakehouse platforms on modern cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks, PySpark, Python and SQL.
• Develop Lakehouse solutions based on Delta Lake and Medallion Architecture.
• Build batch, incremental and streaming data processing workflows.
• Optimise Spark workloads for performance, scalability, reliability and cost.
• Implement data quality, monitoring and operational best practices.
• Configure and manage Databricks Workflows, Jobs and Unity Catalog for governance.
• Collaborate with architects, data scientists and business stakeholders.
• Participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipelines and continuous platform improvement.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional Data Engineering experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Databricks and Apache Spark.
• Strong proficiency in PySpark, Python and SQL.
• Experience building production‑grade ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Good understanding of Delta Lake, Lakehouse architecture and data modelling.
• Familiarity with batch and incremental processing concepts.
• Knowledge of Spark optimisation and distributed processing.
• Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP cloud platforms.
• Proficiency with Git and modern software‑engineering practices.
• Excellent English and native Bulgarian language skills.
