Maintenance Automation Engineer

About the role

Festo is seeking a Maintenance Automation Engineer to join its Engineering team in Sofia. The role involves ensuring reliable operation of machines and equipment through preventive maintenance, repairs, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repair and preventive maintenance activities on machines and equipment according to maintenance plans.
• Organize and support effective preventive maintenance programmes, including periodic inspections and calibration of testing equipment.
• Participate in the technical acceptance, commissioning, and coordination of maintenance contracts with external service providers.
• Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities and provide training to technicians and operators when required.
• Identify and recommend tools, methods, and improvement opportunities to reduce downtime and equipment failures.
• Work in shifts to ensure continuous coverage.

Required profile

• University degree in Engineering (Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, or Manufacturing Automation preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a similar maintenance role, preferably in an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Good command of English and/or German (minimum B1 level).
• Strong analytical, decision‑making and presentation skills, with the ability to work independently and in multicultural teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office, SAP and EXP Maintenance software.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams and related technical documentation.
