Director, Retail & Commerce Customer Development

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a senior leader to drive retail and commerce customer development across Bulgaria and the surrounding region. The role focuses on expanding card acceptance, launching innovative contact‑less and e‑commerce solutions, and building long‑term relationships with acquirers and merchants.

Key responsibilities

• Develop Mastercard acceptance across Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo, with a focus on new verticals, e‑commerce and contact‑less.
• Lead project execution and coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with acquirers, value‑chain partners and merchants.
• Define use cases, technical requirements, financial models and user experience for card‑acceptance solutions.
• Collaborate with Public Affairs to secure authority support and funding.
• Work with Marketing to create awareness campaigns and manage the related budget.
• Align initiatives with country management, CEE and European Commerce Development priorities.

Required profile

• A degree in Business Management.
• Proactive, flexible and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Strong sales mindset with the ability to identify customer needs and deliver solutions.
• Experience managing the full sales cycle from prospecting to post‑sales account management.
• Excellent initiative and the capacity to see projects through to completion.
