Senior Data Engineer - Early Career

About the role

Accenture's Bulgarian Technology team is building a new team of Data Engineers, Data Scientists and Data Analysts and is recruiting a Senior Data Engineer in Sofia. The role suits someone with solid experience in data engineering, machine learning and a passion for Big Data, working on complex global projects across e-commerce, retail, insurance, banking, telecommunications, automotive, public sector, travel and culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, customize and manage integration tools, databases, warehouses and analytical systems.
• Create and run complex queries and automation scripts for operational data processing.
• Test the reliability and performance of system parts and work with the testing team.
• Deploy data models into production, configure data attributes, manage computing resources and set up monitoring tools.
• Set up tools to view data, generate reports and create visuals.
• Maintain system performance and stability, and adjust automated pipelines as data, models or requirements change.
• Mentor colleagues, solve complex issues with minimal supervision and propose improvements that affect the business.

Required profile

• Excellent understanding of the ETL cycle, including AWS Glue with Python for scalable ETL workflows.
• Experience with Python, PySpark and/or Scala for data engineering.
• Understanding of data types and handling of different data models.
• Desirable: Spark, Flink, Kafka, Flask, Apache Airflow, AWS Big Data Analytics, Amazon Redshift, Boto3, AWS SDK for Python, PowerBI/Tableau, AWS Lambda, AWS Data Pipeline, AWS Snowflake, data governance and security.
• Desirable: knowledge of descriptive and exploratory statistics, predictive modelling, evaluation metrics, decision trees and machine learning algorithms.
• Good scripting and programming skills.
• Ability to lead and organize teams, client-facing skills, travel availability and flexibility with technologies.
