Senior Quality Assurance Automation Engineer (Mobile)

About the role

Avenga, an international engineering firm, is looking for a Senior Automation Quality Engineer (mobile) in Bulgaria to join its team working on a lottery domain project. The role develops and maintains automated tests for mobile applications, backend services and integrations that support BAU releases and value-stream delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Build reusable automation for key mobile app journeys and manage app installation, launch, reset and test state.
• Design coverage for permissions, interruptions, backgrounding and network changes.
• Run tests across an agreed device and operating-system matrix.
• Diagnose failures using device logs, screenshots and execution evidence.
• Collaborate with developers to improve app testability and automation stability.
• Use approved AI tools, protect sensitive data, and independently review and run AI-generated tests before merging.

Required profile

• Familiarity with mobile and backend architecture, test design and software delivery principles.
• Knowledge of mobile locators, synchronization, gestures and application lifecycle.
• Understanding of trade-offs between physical devices, simulators/emulators and cloud execution.
• Knowledge of HTTP, JSON, authentication, status codes and schema validation.
• Experience with AWS/DevOps, virtual environments and service virtualization using mocks or stubs.

Required skills

• CodeceptJS, Appium, TypeScript and API testing.
• Sauce Labs for remote execution.
• Familiarity with Swift, Kotlin, Xcode, Espresso or Compose UI.
• AI-assisted mobile test design, development and device failure analysis.
