Senior Finance Associate

About the role

The Senior Finance Associate will work under the supervision of the Resource Management Officer and the Head of Office to ensure accurate financial and administrative implementation of IOM programmes in Sofia, including AMIF projects funded by Bulgarian Shared Management Funds.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare budgets, accounting, financial and statistical reports, and other required documentation.
• Manage financial resources, monitor reserves, funds, and supplies in line with IOM and donor regulations.
• Provide specialized financial and administrative advice to Project Managers and the Head of Office.
• Monitor compliance with IOM and donor financial policies and consolidate data into financial statements.
• Prepare quarterly project and VAT reimbursement reports and support audit queries.

Required profile

• High school diploma with 7 years relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance with 5 years experience.
• Fluency in Bulgarian and English (oral and written).
• Knowledge of Bulgarian tax and accounting legislation and experience with the National Revenue Agency.
• Prior experience with EU‑funded programmes and international humanitarian organisations is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced MS Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Understanding of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
